The following text appears on the announcements of the appointment of Rona Fairhead (analysed here) to Chair the BBC Trust on the pages of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and the headhunters (who employ the wife of the BBC Director General) allegedly employed to find her, Saxon Bampfylde:
“The independent public appointments assessor, who has overseen the appointment process, has confirmed he is satisfied that this competition met the requirements of the Commissioner for Public Appointments’ Code of Practice for Ministerial Appointments to Public Bodies.”
However, the text does not appear on any other public appointments by the DCMS similarly “overseen” by the Commissioner for Public Appointments, such as new appointments to the BBC Trust, Tate Trustees, or Gambling Commissioners
Why would this be, I wonder?
