BBC Silence

Update 27 October 2015. On 22 October this was reported in the press:

On 4 June it was widely reported that HSBC had paid a £28m fine in Switzerland to avoid prosecution for money laundering. Given that the Chair of the Trustees of the BBC is an HSBC director, Rona Fairhead, I was interested to see how they reported the story. They didn’t.

There was nothing on TV or on their News Website. There was a mention on the midnight news on Radio 4 and I don’t know if there had been other reports on the radio during the day. There was however a link on the business pages of the website to other sites on the internet and the story was reported by the Namibia Press Agency. This is Britain’s state broadcaster. HSBC is Britain’s largest bank.
