Having recently had to attend a “compliance interview” at my local Job Centre because someone had reported me for benefit fraud, in which I demonstrated that I had not committed fraud, and having fought off repossession proceedings by the government owned UK Asset Resolution, today I received a letter from the DWP, claiming I had been overpaid benefits between 31/03/2015 to 31/10/2016, by not declaring a pension income of £58 per month. They have also imposed a £50 “Civil Penalty”. Ouch!
The problem is I have always declared my pension income as shown in their own statement of my entitlements dated 20/4/2015, which shows the deduction.Luckily, I have the resources to deal with this. But others on Employment Support Allowance certainly won’t. It’s an utter disgrace.
